| Streets
The Operations Division, the Construction Division and
the Public Service Administration are all responsible for
keeping streets in good shape in Maumee. The Operations
Division coordinates street sweeping, pothole repair, and
snow and ice removal while the Construction Division
performs the asphalt and concrete patching repairs to the
streets made necessary by age, utility cuts and other
factors. The Public Service Department is responsible for
selecting streets needing major resurfacing or
reconstructing and planning and coordinating that work.
Snow and ice removal are done by set priorities based
upon the usage of the streets with the arterial streets
first, followed by the collector streets, and then the
residential streets. Also the school bus routes are taken
into consideration in setting up snow removal routes. Work
begins immediately as snow accumulates. Because the City has
such excellent snow removal equipment, generally all Maumee
streets are cleared within hours of when the snow quits.
If you know of a pothole that needs to be repaired, your
street needs cleaning, there's patch work to be done or you
think it's time for resurfacing, please call us at the
numbers below or e-mail us at service@maumee.org.

Sidewalk Repairs
Sidewalk installation and repair in the City of Maumee is
the responsibility of the property owner.
The Public Service Department inspects all sidewalks in
the City for safety hazards on a four year cycle. Inspectors
look for uneven heights, broken pieces, and sunken or raised
sections.
Snow Removal
All sidewalks must be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours
of a snow fall. Chapter 521.06(a) of the Maumee Municipal
Code states "each single residential, commercial, or
industrial property and owners of any multiple residential,
commercial, or industrial property, or any unoccupied
property...shall keep and maintain the same free and clear
of snow, ice...debris. Please do not shovel snow from
your driveway into the street. The plows will push it
back into your drive approach. Remove the snow from your
approach in the direction of travel. Cars parked in the
street hinder the snow removal operation. |
