All New Customers Must Have a Remote.
If there is not a remote register on the meter, the new
customer must have one installed within thirty days. There
is a $40.00 charge (unless unusual conditions exist) for the
Division of Water personnel to install the remote. If the
customer installs the wire and conduit, there is a $15.00
charge for the connection and test of the circuit. The wire
and specifications are available at the Division of Utility
Billing office located at 400 Conant Street. If the meter is
faulty, a new one will be installed at no charge to the
customer. Remotes on buildings built on concrete slabs
usually present installation problems. The city cannot
perform the installation if the wiring must be routed
through a finished room or an attic. Names of private
individuals who can do such installations are also available
at the Division of Utility Billing office.
