Chipable Yard Waste Collection

Fall  2008 Chipable Yard Waste Material Collection Dates  

Beginning the week of  March 31, 2008, the City of Maumee will be providing its spring chipable yard waste material collection. This collection is for chipable material only, no yard waste bags or non-chipable material (leaves, grass, garden waste, weeds, etc.) will be collected as part of this program. The chipable material must be bundled and tied in four foot (4') lengths, no more than two feet (2') in diameter and weigh no more than forty (40) pounds. The following are the weeks the material will be collected. The material should be put out to the street. CITY OF MAUMEE YARD WASTE DISPOSAL INFORMATION:

A REMINDER:  Yard waste is not included in the regular refuse collection.  Yard waste may be handled by the residents through home composting, through the yard waste collection service provided by Allied Waste Services, or through utilizing the available yard waste drop-off facilities.

Yard Waste Collection ServiceAllied Waste Services brown yard waste bags are available for purchase at The Pharm and The Anderson's in Maumee and must have the Allied Waste Services seal on the side of the bag (generic bags will not be picked up).  The bags are also available by calling Allied Waste Services at (419) 472-1165 for home delivery.  Payment over the phone will be with a credit or debit card.  The bags will be delivered within 72 business hours.  The purchase price covers the cost of the collection service and composting of the item(s).

Collection occurs every Tuesday, starting March 4, 2008, through December 4, 2008.

Material that can be placed in your yard waste collection bags includes:

  • Grass

  • Leaves

  • Garden Waste

  • Limbs or brush if they are cut in 4-foot lengths and bundled no more than 2-feet in diameter and weighing less than 50 pounds.  The bag should be wrapped around or attached to the bundle with the Allied Waste logo showing.

Residents may also contract for an unlimited monthly service directly with Allied Waste Services.  You can contact them at (419) 472-1165 to set up this service.

YARD WASTE DROP-OFF FACILITIESYard waste drop-off service at the Public Service Yard, 214 Illinois Avenue, is also available.  Acceptable items are limited to "chipable materials" (tree and brush trimmings).  NO grass, garden cuttings, leaves, etc., or other materials that are not readily chipable.  This drop-off area is located inside the fenced-in area of the service yard and is open every Saturday beginning April 5, 2008 through November 1, 2008.  The hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The facility is staffed by City employees.  Maumee citizens must show proof of residency to leave materials.
