CITY OF MAUMEE 

GENERAL CODE OF PERSONAL CONDUCT 

            As custodians of the public trust, the employees of the City of Maumee must be held to a high standard of conduct in the performance of their duties.  Therefore, all officers and employees of the City are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the following general guidelines in all aspects of their employment: 

1.                  An employee shall exhibit professionalism in speech, behavior, and appearance. 

2.                  An employee shall treat the public and fellow employees with courtesy and respect and shall refrain from the use of obscene, abusive, or threatening language. 

3.                  An employee shall maintain the highest standards of integrity and honesty. 

4.                  An employee shall at all times, whether on duty or off, refrain from engaging in conduct which brings disrepute or discredit to the City or which will undermine public confidence in the workings of the government of the City. 

5.                  An employee shall refrain from use of illegal drugs and the abuse of otherwise legal drugs and chemicals whether on or off duty, and shall not consume alcoholic beverages to such an extent that it interferes with the employee’s on-duty performance, whether such beverages are consumed on or off duty. 

6.                  An employee shall promptly comply with all requests, instructions, and orders from those occupying higher positions in the employee’s chain of command. 

7.                  An employee shall discharge the responsibilities of his or her position by thorough, diligent, and prompt performance of his or her duties. 

8.                  An employee shall not disclose to or discuss with unauthorized persons any information acquired in the course of employment which is required by law to be kept confidential. 

9.                  An employee shall conduct himself or herself with due regard for the health and safety of coworkers, the public, and the employee, and shall refrain from conduct which endangers persons or property. 

10.              An employee shall diligently observe the work rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the City.
