Botte / Hoffman /
Augustyniak House. Simpler and smaller than its
neighbor when built (c.1892), this home has been doubled in
size to meet the demands of family living. The
original lines of the house, however, are clearly visible
and the additions, including the wide wrap-around veranda
with turned posts and balustrades are in keeping with the
Victorian cottage design. This was the lifetime home
of Leon Botte, a Belgium glass blower, who emigrated to
Maumee in 1890. Later owners, completed the
expansion.
